There was a time when we bought vinyl albums and expected to find every song in them to be transcendent. Many were performed by the artists who wrote them. It made the sixties and early seventies different. We began to realize what one person could do artistically within one art form. I don’t exactly recall the first album of this kind I came in contact with, but I know my first reaction was to do drugs, grow my hair long, and dress in outfits that resulted in the grateful and premature onset of my parent’s Alzheimer’s.
